It is difficult to imagine that the priests would actually utter these words, especially in the hearing of the people, although the priests may have shared such feelings amongst themselves. But as stated earlier, actions often speak louder than words. By offering defiled sacrifices to the Lord, the priests made evident their disdain for the sacrificial service.
