In Revelation 17:14 John learned that the beast and the ten horns would declare war on the Lamb and the Lamb would conquer them. As conquered entities, the beast and the horns will turn on the “prostitute” (note the use of that word instead of “woman”) who had been riding the beast. In their defeat they can no longer stomach her deceit and selfishness (see Proverbs 7:10–21), let alone her leadership, and destroy her.
16 And the ten horns that you saw, they and the beast will hate the prostitute. They will make her desolate and naked, and devour her flesh and burn her up with fire,
