The prostitute has enticed and her victim has fallen for her enticements. The emotion she awakened seemed to her victims the equivalent of a good wine that should not be passed by, and so the victims fell to her seductions (Proverbs 7:10–27, especially verses 21–23). To fallen humanity, the expectation of getting satisfaction from any created thing instead of from the Creator is too tantalizing.
3 For all nations have drunk the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality, and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her, and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”
