The Lord answers Daniel because he is greatly loved
by God. This is because Daniel seeks his life not from himself but from the Lord. He knows that he desperately needs the forgiveness, the sacrifice that will one day be made for his sins. Anyone who wants to live like this, anyone who wants to live out of Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, is one of God’s loved ones, through Christ. He is a person to whom the Lord is listening as one of his loved ones—as a loving Father.
23 At the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, and I have come to tell it to you, for you are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word and understand the vision.
