Do not read this story apart from Exodus 1:1–22 where we read about the cruelty of the Pharaoh against the Israelites. Pharaoh has ordered every boy that is born to the Hebrews you shall cast into the Nile
(Exodus 1:22). Moses’ parents hid him by faith (Hebrews 11:23). They refused to obey Pharaoh’s order to kill the boy.
