The thrones for judgment
were the places where everyday regular legal judgments were given. The Lord expected his king to govern his people in a fair and just manner (Jeremiah 22:1–4). These thrones of judgment are connected to the house of David because he was king and the Lord had promised David that someone from his house would reign as king over his people (2 Samuel 7:16). Jerusalem was the centre of Israel’s justice system associated with the king’s central power.1
5 There thrones for judgment were set, the thrones of the house of David.
