There is always the tendency for leaders to align their teaching about what God requires to what society desires. This is evident in the Western churches, where society’s view toward gender equality and sexual ethics determines the view of church leaders. Many church leaders have aligned their teaching regarding women serving in office, or the acceptability of homosexual relationships, to fit with the views of society. By doing so, they hope to curry the favour of society. But God will frustrate their endeavours. They will incur the disfavour of both God and man. Conversely, if faithful church leaders seek the favour of God, they might experience the disfavour of those who are hostile to the truth. But God will reward these faithful leaders with the favour of the faithful who are under their authority.
7 For the lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people should seek instruction from his mouth, for he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.
