God is prophesying about the coming of the Babylonians, the destruction of Jerusalem, and the Babylonian captivity, but it has not yet happened. It seems to be slow. But when things seem to be slow, do not draw the conclusion that God has made a mistake. Do not draw the conclusion that God is not paying attention. Wait for it. Be patient. Wait for it, because God's Word will not lie! God’s Word and his prophecies cannot lie. When God speaks, it is true. If the Bible is the product of God speaking—speaking through individuals, sometimes by dictation, sometimes in a more mysterious process, working through the methodical research of somebody like Luke—and if the Bible is from God and God cannot lie, then the Bible cannot lie. We talk about the inerrancy of Scripture, that Scripture cannot err; Scripture cannot lie. Jesus says in John 10:1–42,
