Morning and evening devotions

Ezra 3:3 (ESV)

3 They set the altar in its place, for fear was on them because of the peoples of the lands, and they offered burnt offerings on it to the LORD, burnt offerings morning and evening.

The people of God are very, very careful to follow the Word of God, and to put it into practice. And so our text says that they established morning and evening burnt offerings. In other words, that time belongs to God. Morning belongs to God; evening belongs to God. Why? Because those burnt offerings were pointing to full a consecration of all that they are and all that they have, as his. The morning was set aside as his; the evening was set aside as his, and everything in between belongs to him as well. That is why we encourage morning devotions, evening devotions; the morning and evening being set aside for him. Consecration offering. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.1
