The apostles would most certainly have been sad to see Jesus leave them and probably continued staring into the sky long after he had gone from view, hoping that he might return.1 With this question the angels affirm that the ascension has concluded Jesus’ earthly ministry and that the time has now come for the new covenant ministry to be carried out by the apostles.2
11 and said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven.”
