The book of Leviticus consistently highlights the importance of proper worship. Proper worship includes the appropriate items for sacrifice, as well as the proper treatment of them. Those who take it upon themselves to worship the Lord in ways that he has not revealed are excluded from worship.
17 But what remains of the flesh of the sacrifice on the third day shall be burned up with fire.
