In this passage Peter tells his readers to love “one another.” The “elect exiles of the Dispersion” (1 Peter 1:1) experience that they are misfits in the community. So it is imperative that they receive love from one another. In 1 Peter 2:11 – 4:11 the apostle will draw out how his readers need to relate to the wider community.
22 Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart,
