1. 1 Peter 1:25 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

Who is meant by the pronoun “you”?

1 Peter 1:25 (ESV)

25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”And this word is the good news that was preached to you.

In context, that is obviously Peter’s readers, namely, the “elect exiles of the Dispersion” (1 Peter 1:1). We do not know who brought the gospel to them, but they somehow did hear the good news of Jesus Christ, complete with its rebirthing ability. By extension, the pronoun “you” pertains to all who have heard this same gospel across the centuries and the time zones of the world.
