The entire passage revolves around two imperatives: love one another
(1 Peter 1:22) and long for
(1 Peter 2:2). No Christian can love his fellow Christian with Christ’s kind of love unless he continues to drink from God’s kind of milk—the Word from which he learns what Christ’s kind of love looks like and produces. Enjoying the sweet taste of the gospel (and so craving it) is foundational to a healthy communion of saints.
