The Hittites lived in the hill country of Judah (Judges 1:22–26; Ezekiel 16:3, Ezekiel 16:45), the Hivites in the mountainous region to the north (Joshua 11:3). The Perizzites lived in the forested areas of central Palestine and the highlands of Samaria (Genesis 13:7; Joshua 17:15). The Jebusites were the pre-Israelite inhabitants of Jerusalem (1 Chronicles 11:4–9). We are not told elsewhere in the Bible where the Girgashites lived, most probably just north of Palestine.
10 And Joshua said, “Here is how you shall know that the living God is among you and that he will without fail drive out from before you the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Hivites, the Perizzites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
