This verse is reminiscent of the priestly blessing: the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace
(Numbers 6:25–26). All that was needed for the deliverance and restoration of Israel was that the Lord would turn aside his anger and look upon them with gracious light. Without God’s grace, there can be no restoration. This verse concludes the first part of the psalm.
