Psalm 87
The coming of the Spirit at Pentecost was to comfort believers and equip them for works of service—specifically, the work of proclaiming the gospel to the nations. In Psalm 87:1–7 we celebrate the fact that the church of Jesus Christ is a church for people from many different places and not restricted only to the physical descendants of Abraham. The theme of this song ties in with the idea that the Spirit is equipping God’s people to share the gospel with others and would therefore be a good song to sing after your sermon.
1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.
