Sermon goal of Acts 4:13-31

Acts 4:13–31 (ESV)

13 Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated, common men, they were astonished. And they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem to Samaria and finally to the end of the earth (Acts 1:8). In this sermon you must focus on the events that followed Peter’s initial speech before the Sanhedrin. Specifically you will explain the dilemma that the Jewish council faced and their response. You must also explain the pressure which was placed on the apostles and how they responded. In terms of application you must show how Christ works to strengthen his church so that the Good News of his resurrection and the salvation which he has accomplished will continue to be proclaimed in word and deed.
