The Old Testament asserts that God must intervene if the people of Israel are to have new spiritual life (Deuteronomy 30:1–6; Jeremiah 31:31–34). This power to intervene in the life of people and offer salvation is attributed to Jesus. The offer of salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ is also held out to the Jewish council.1
