Job 5:1 (ESV)

1 “Call now; is there anyone who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?

The word call sometimes has the meaning of calling for justice, as in a court setting (see also Job 9:16; Job 13:22; Deuteronomy 25:8; Isaiah 59:4). That is also the meaning here. Based on his nightly vision (Job 4:12–21), Eliphaz believes that it is foolish to plead one’s case with God. According to Eliphaz, everyone is unrighteous in God’s eyes. Even God’s angels (holy ones) cannot help Job, because God also does not approve of them (Job 4:18).
