There is now a powerful call to listen. It is made absolutely clear who is speaking: I am God, your God
(cf. Psalm 81:9, Psalm 81:11). A stronger exhortation to listen cannot be imagined. It is significant that the Lord adds to this call: your (own) God.
You should know that—even when you hear critical words. God continues to regard Israel as his people. Therein glimmers compassion and hope. Our God is a seeking God.
