Although some have linked Isaiah 14:12–14 to the fall of Satan (see Luke 10:18), it is the end of a tyrant’s reign that is pictured here. Whereas the Babylonian king’s power was broken completely, Satan continues his acts against God’s people until the final judgment. Therefore, this passage cannot apply to Satan.
