The hope of the wicked is to trust and rely upon himself. He depends upon his ability to accomplish his will. He also lives in expectancy that his wealth will provide for all his needs. But man is subject to death and when this moment comes, all his hope and wealth will perish with him. His hope will prove to be a hopeless reality and his wealth a fleeting possession. Therefore, to have a hope that is rooted in oneself and to build a life on wealth will result in it perishing.
7 When the wicked dies, his hope will perish, and the expectation of wealth perishes too.
