James 1:5 (ESV)

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

We are to ask God for wisdom, especially when we lack wisdom in trials, difficulties, and stresses. And that is true in everyday life. If we are having a physical trial and it gets bad enough, we go ask a doctor for help. If our car is having a trial and it is not working, we go to an auto mechanic. And James says, if we need help in understanding life, we ask God. How natural it is—maybe supernatural—but natural in one sense, that we ask God, because God knows everything about us. He is the Creator of the universe. He knows more about our bodies than any doctor or any scientist. He knows more about our emotions than any psychologist. He knows us better than we know ourselves. Sometimes I am a mystery to myself, and that is true of all of us; we do not fully grasp ourselves. God knows us. He is not only our Creator but also our Redeemer.1
