Revelation of God the Son

1 Samuel 14:24–46 (ESV)

24 And the men of Israel had been hard pressed that day, so Saul had laid an oath on the people, saying, “Cursed be the man who eats food until it is evening and I am avenged on my enemies.” So none of the people had tasted food.

What does 1 Samuel 14:24–46 reveal about what God does in my place and on my behalf (the work of the Son)? Jesus Christ is the One who always spoke what is true and acted in the best interests of God’s people. He perfectly obeyed God’s law. As a result of his obedience, he was also able to pay for the sins of God’s people—the truly innocent One suffering in the place of the wicked. Thus the penalty which I deserve for my sin fell upon him so that I can be forgiven, and so that I can look forward to an inheritance in the new creation.
