Ezra 5—6 and the Trinity

Ezra 5:1–6:22 (ESV)

1 Now the prophets, Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel who was over them.

What does Ezra 5—6 reveal about what God the Son does in my place and on my behalf?

God the Son is the one who makes it possible for me to become part of God’s people. He is the one who redeems me from sin so that I can be called a child of God (John 1:12–13, 1 John 3:1–3, Galatians 4:4–7). He is the one who obeyed God’s law fully on my behalf so that I can be adopted into God’s family (Romans 8:14–17) even though I deserve God’s judgement and wrath on account of my sin (Titus 3:3–7).
