2 “Plead with your mother, plead for she is not my wife, and I am not her husband that she put away her whoring from her face, and her adultery from between her breasts;

Therefore (Hosea 2:6, Hosea 2:9) signals an important change in focus, shifting from Israel’s adulterous behaviour to the Lord’s response to said behaviour.2 The covenant God will discipline his people by frustrating her idolatrous ways and withdrawing his rich blessings.
