We have already come across this language in Hosea 1:11, where God promises restoration to Israel on the “day of Jezreel.” This is the same day being spoken of here, and it refers to a future time when this promise of marital reunion will take place. It is a day that comes after judgment has been meted out and all idolatry has been purged. Ultimately, it points to the final consummation, when God will purify his bride (Revelation 22:14–15), meeting his church face to face.1
