To what day is Hosea referring with the words “that day”?

Hosea 2:16 (ESV)

16 “And in that day, declares the LORD, you will call me ‘My Husband,’ and no longer will you call me ‘My Baal.’

Hosea 2:21 (ESV)

21 “And in that day I will answer, declares the LORD, I will answer the heavens, and they shall answer the earth,

We have already come across this language in Hosea 1:11, where God promises restoration to Israel on the “day of Jezreel.” This is the same day being spoken of here, and it refers to a future time when this promise of marital reunion will take place. It is a day that comes after judgment has been meted out and all idolatry has been purged. Ultimately, it points to the final consummation, when God will purify his bride (Revelation 22:14–15), meeting his church face to face.1
