Revelation of God the Father

1 Samuel 15:1–35 (ESV)

1 And Samuel said to Saul, “The LORD sent me to anoint you king over his people Israel; now therefore listen to the words of the LORD.

What does 1 Samuel 15 reveal about who God the Father is? The Lord is just. He punishes sin. The Amalekites are destroyed. Saul is removed from office.

The Lord is faithful. He does what he says. He promised the destruction of the Amalekites. He promised to be against the king of Israel if the king refused to submit to his commands.

The Lord speaks and reveals his plans to his king. He spoke to Saul through his prophet Samuel.

The Lord is grieved by sin. He does not delight in the death of the wicked.

The Lord does not require sacrifices. He is not a pagan deity who needs to be fed (see Psalm 50:1–23).
