Three of the five sentences that begin with the Lord
are found in this verse. The Lord opens blind eyes, lifts up those who are bowed down, and loves the righteous. These sentences serve to make clear that the Lord can truly be trusted; and therefore, he is to be praised. As the first two sentences do not deal exclusively with physical suffering, this can also be read against the background of returning from exile.
8 the LORD opens the eyes of the blind. The LORD lifts up those who are bowed down; the LORD loves the righteous.
