The defence of the faith must be conducted in such a manner that is not arrogant, but with gentleness and respect toward others.1 This does not mean that a believer should not be bold and courageous. Yet the goal is not to irritate the listener with the attitude with which one articulates the faith but to bring a person to the knowledge of the object of the faith of believers.
15 but in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect,
