Why is the discovery of an Egyptian significant?

1 Samuel 30:11–12 (ESV)

11 They found an Egyptian in the open country and brought him to David. And they gave him bread and he ate. They gave him water to drink,

The Egyptian has information that is essential if David and his men are to locate the raiders, given the many different places there are to hide. Without his help they would have likely gone in the wrong direction.1 The LORD providentially acts to direct their path.
