According to Job, heaven and earth can testify to his innocence (Job 16:18–19). Zophar disputes this, saying that heaven and earth will expose Job’s guilt. Up to now, neither Zophar nor one of the others were able to point out specific sins in Job’s life. However, Zophar feels sure that Job’s guilt will eventually be exposed, as happens in the case of all wicked men.
27 The heavens will reveal his iniquity, and the earth will rise up against him.
