Man of sin is the abomination of desolation

Daniel 11:12 (ESV)

12 And when the multitude is taken away, his heart shall be exalted, and he shall cast down tens of thousands, but he shall not prevail.

When this happens, it will be the fulfilment of what the Scriptures call the abomination of desolation. The abomination of desolation is an end times concept that comes up in Scripture both in the Old Testament and in the New Testament. And you can probably guess by now that the first time it is revealed is in the Book of Daniel. It is mentioned a number of places in the Book of Daniel (i.e. Daniel 12:11). It is also mentioned in the place that we read:

And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. Daniel 11:31, KJV

The abomination of desolation is an idol, or abomination (the Bible calls idols abominations in many places). The abomination of desolation is an idol, or abomination, that makes desolate the worship of Jehovah God. It makes the worship of God impossible.1
