The Law and the Prophets testify that God expects those made in his image to treat their fellow man with dignity and respect. Good treatment of a fellow believer is consistent with this expectation. It is a specific application of the general principle that we ought to love our neighbours as ourselves (Matthew 22:36–40; Romans 13:8–9; Galatians 5:14) and that we please/love our Father when we do so.1
