This verse gives us words that would probably have been spoken by the Babylonian soldiers as they walked through the streets of Jerusalem. Not only they, but “all” Jerusalem’s enemies are mocking her now. Until today, God’s people have always known the pain of being mocked by the world.
16 All your enemies rail against you; they hiss, they gnash their teeth, they cry: “We have swallowed her! Ah, this is the day we longed for; now we have it; we see it!”
