Job 26:7 (ESV)

7 He stretches out the north over the void and hangs the earth on nothing.

Not only the depths but also the heights of creation testify to God’s power. The starry northern skies are spread out by God like a tent, without a tent pole to support them. The skies and the earth remain in their positions simply through God’s power. (Job’s description of the earth reflects the advances that were being made in the ancient Near East in the field of astronomy. Job shows no belief in the primitive notion of pillars supporting the earth.)
