Sermon goal for Acts 11:19-30

Acts 11:19–30 (ESV)

19 Now those who were scattered because of the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia and Cyprus and Antioch, speaking the word to no one except Jews.

The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem, to Samaria and finally to the ends of the world (Acts 1:8). Your sermon from Acts 11:19–30 will emphasize that the conversion of Gentiles is not an anomaly, and that Gentile believers are genuine believers who must be welcomed in the church of Jesus Christ. This passage allows you to spend quite a lot of time in application, focusing on the doctrinal instruction which takes place in God’s church as well as the work of the deacons.
