1 At Caesarea there was a man named Cornelius, a centurion of what was known as the Italian Cohort,

The book of Acts recounts the spread of the early church and the manner in which Christ works to take the gospel from Jerusalem, to Samaria and finally to the ends of the world (Acts 1:8). Your sermon from Acts 10:1–48 will explain the purpose and meaning of Peter’s visit with Cornelius. You will emphasize the fact that faith in Jesus Christ is the only requirement for membership in God’s church. You will explain that old covenant purification laws have come to an end so that there is no food, clothing or hairstyle which is more godly than another (in and of itself). Finally, you will show how these two changes have prepared the church for mission so that many Gentiles can join it.
