Job had challenged God for a dispute. Such a challenge is foolish and arrogant. Man has neither the power nor the wisdom to prescribe to God or to accuse him. According to Job’s three friends, Job’s complaints had arisen from wicked deceit. But Elihu perceives the real root of these complaints: Job had forgotten God’s infinite power and wisdom.
