Job 40:8 (ESV)

8 Will you even put me in the wrong? Will you condemn me that you may be in the right?

Again, Job’s sin is clearly put before him. He had questioned God’s ways, accusing God of injustice (Job 38:2; Job 39:2). He had done this with a number of complaints, such as:

  • He destroys both the blameless and the wicked (Job 9:22)

  • Those who provoke God are secure (Job 12:6)

  • Why do the wicked live on, reach old age, and grow mighty in power? (Job 21:7)

  • Why are not times of judgment kept by the Almighty? (Job 24:1)

  • God has taken away my right (Job 27:2)
