Concerning Pergamum, Christ is well aware that the Christians there dwell in the city where “Satan’s throne” is. Despite the challenges that come with living in that context, these Christians have held fast to Jesus’ name. With this observation the Lord pays his church in Pergamum a considerable compliment.
13 “‘I know where you dwell, where Satan’s throne is. Yet you hold fast my name, and you did not deny my faith even in the days of Antipas my faithful witness, who was killed among you, where Satan dwells.
