Without hesitation, Esther replied that the enemy was Haman. Suddenly, things became clear to the king. He realized that Haman’s decree was aimed against the queen’s people, and therefore against the queen herself. His look of anger terrified Haman. Haman suddenly realized the truth of his wife’s and friends’ words (Esther 6:13). If not only Mordecai but even the queen herself were of Jewish origin, it was certain that he could not stand.
6 And Esther said, “A foe and enemy! This wicked Haman!” Then Haman was terrified before the king and the queen.
