How did the believers of Philadelphia handle the challenges around them?

Revelation 3:8 (ESV)

8 “‘I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.

Jesus compliments them for having “kept my word” and “not denied my name.” With those words Jesus recalls the words he spoke to his disciples before his crucifixion (Matthew 10:32; Luke 12:8). Despite temptation to disown Jesus and deny the gospel, this weak church held firm to their confession concerning Jesus Christ.
