It appears as if some people from Cyrene were among the first Christian believers at the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2:10). In addition, some believers from Cyrene fled Jerusalem following the death of Stephen ( Acts 7:1–60) and began sharing their faith in Antioch. Acts 13:1 mentions Lucius of Cyrene as one of the teachers of the Christians in Antioch.
21 And they compelled a passerby, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross.
