This victory was God’s work, not man’s. So who gets the glory in this passage? It is not Barak; he was no lightning bolt. Deborah gets some glory. Jael gets some. But ultimately the glory goes to God. Even when His people were idolatrous, God was faithful to save his people—"with reluctant heroes and bizarre situations.”1
