1. Ezra 6:19–22 (ESV)
  2. Exposition

How does 6:19–22 serve as a conclusion to Ezra 1—6?

Ezra 6:19–22 (ESV)

19 On the fourteenth day of the first month, the returned exiles kept the Passover.

Ezra 6:19–22 is not only the conclusion to Ezra 5—6, but also the conclusion to Ezra 1—6 as a whole. This is indicated by the fact that whereas Ezra 5:1 – 6:18 was written in the Aramaic language, Ezra 6:19–22 is once again written in Hebrew. Also, the reference to the Lord's changing of the attitude of the king of Assyria (Ezra 6:22) alludes to the Lord's moving of the heart of Cyrus (Ezra 1:1).
