Jeremiah calls the people to weep and cry to God without stopping. At night, every time when they hear the night guards change shifts, they should arise and cry out again.
Jeremiah speaks again about the children who died of hunger in the streets. This must have made a great impression on them. If God would show mercy, these children’s suffering might also be ended.
19 “Arise, cry out in the night, at the beginning of the night watches! Pour out your heart like water before the presence of the Lord! Lift your hands to him for the lives of your children, who faint for hunger at the head of every street.”
