John had already said this of this mighty angel in Revelation 10:2. He will say it again in Revelation 10:8. This repetition serves to make the reader stop to pay careful attention to the dominion, power, and authority this angel possesses. In the face of what is to happen (see again Revelation 12:4, Revelation 12:13, Revelation 12:17; Revelation 13:1, Revelation 13:11), John presses upon us the absolute authority and dominion of this angel. We may never forget who is sovereign over earth’s land and sea! Having Christ’s dominion clearly in view is more beneficial than knowing what the seven thunders said.
