This mighty angel has God’s creation literally under his feet (see Psalm 8:6). This speaks to this angel’s authority and thus dominion over all the works of God’s hands. Even when a beast must arise from the sea (see Revelation 13:1) or from the land (see Revelation 13:11), such a hideous creature shall never have any power, dominion, or ability outside of the control of this mighty angel’s sender. Though John needs to prophesy of bitter things in coming chapters, there is first this sweet and glorious message of comfort for God’s people.
